Forgive Others Misteaks?

How willing are you to forgive others misteaks? We are often impacted by how others choose to act. Our friends and family occasionally do things which hurt us. It can be challenging to forgive someone who has hurt us in some way, wronged us, or been unfair to us.

As Christians, we have a responsibility follow the pattern which Christ set before us. Though it is sometimes easier said than done, we must be a people who are forgiving. One of the main reasons we must have that forgiving spirit is, we are a forgiven people. We all have our faults and problems and if we are faithful to Him, God promises not to remember those. We are a forgiven people so we must be a forgiving people. Instead of being so quick to jump at other peoples flaws we must first look inwardly at our own. Matthew 7:3-5 “Why do you see that speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take that speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye?’ You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.’”

We may fail to realize this, but making the decision to hold onto grudges or misgivings can cost us our soul. Jesus made it very clear about how serious he feels about us forgiving one another. Matthew 5:14-15 “For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. That is a scary passage. If we decide to hold onto things we ought to forgive, we are choosing to put our eternal salvation in jeopardy.

Brothers and Sisters, there is nothing in this world worth risking your eternal home in heaven for. We are to be the kind of people who follow Christ. If Christ can forgive us for all of our faults and failures, we ought to be the kind of people who are willing to forgive others when they need it. Is there someone in your life you need to forgive? Take care of it before it is too late.
